An Inauspicious Arrival in Ecuador

Our trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos did not start quite the way we’d expected. Our plan was to begin the trip with four nights in Quito’s old historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

We arrived at the Quito airport after midnight. While we were still in customs waiting for our bags, a woman approached us and suggested that we might want to stay in the airport: due to the protests, nobody was able to get into Quito, and that it was a challenge to even find a place to sleep.

Protests? What protests?

Thoughts on Construction

The site you’re looking at is very much under construction.

It’s been years since I’ve tried to use WordPress—decades, probably. But Laura wanted a place to post some pictures that isn’t that face-place, we had some reasonable domain names lying fallow, and it felt like a good little project, so I thought I’d give it a go.

And cobbling this together has been—interesting. As a first real post, here are some thoughts on the setup so far. I’ll try to amend this as I sort things out.
